A press conference was held on the ocassion of the visit of Ralf Hotchkiss, the world's best known wheelchair designer, and the introduction of the SÜVARİ (Rough Rider) wheelchair.

Ralf Hotchkiss, for 43+ years a wheelchair-designer - builder - trainer - rider; engineer, inventor; Whirlwind Wheelchair International co-founder (School of Engineering, San Francisco State University), currently Chief Engineer, Whirlwind; Women Pushing Forward (formerly Whirlwind Women) Advisory Board member; 1989 recipient of the coveted Macarthur Award, the Henry Betts award, the Chrysler Design Award, and numerous other honors and awards; has worked in 46 countries teaching people who need wheelchairs how to build and maintain them for themselves. He represented the U.S. Department of Justice as expert on Monopolization in the wheelchair industry,  and has also worked for Ralph Nader on vehicular safety issues.

He is co-author of several books on product safety, and author of Independence Through Mobility (also translated into Spanish), a manual for the design and manufacture of state-of-the art, lightweight wheelchairs in developing countries.
